Talk to it like a person.
Say what the car is doing, in your words, by voice or by text. Oto asks one narrowing question, not twenty.

Reading your car
Service history, manufacturer data
and stored codes
Hold the button and describe it out loud, or type. While you wait, Oto pulls the records for your exact car: your service history, the manufacturer's data for your VIN, and any stored codes.
It shows its work.
Every answer cites what it checked: your service history, the manufacturer's data for your VIN, the code dictionary. Then a shop confirms.
A squeal that fades as the brakes warm up is usually the wear indicator on the pads. On your Civic the front pads wear first, and your last brake service on file is 18 months ago.
I would scope a front brake pad replacement and let the shop confirm it on the lift. Nothing is charged before that.
Show thinking
Oto scopes and explains. It never claims a diagnosis; the shop confirms the work with the car in front of them, and nothing is charged before that.
Service History
Four records on file. Oil change in March, tires in June. No brake work since March 2025.
Manufacturer Data
VIN matched to a 2019 Civic EX. Front pad spec and service interval from Honda.
Error Codes
None stored. Nothing pointing away from a wear item.
It keeps your car's record.
Mileage, warning lights and services done elsewhere go in with a confirm card, and feed your Vehicle Health Score.

Questions drivers ask.
- What can Oto do?
- Oto explains the 22 services you can book, tells you what is due on your car and shows your Vehicle Health Score, looks up your bookings, pulls the specs for your car, logs your mileage and warning lights when you confirm, and sets up the booking flow with the right service prefilled. You choose the shop, the time and the payment yourself. Oto does not diagnose the car: it scopes what you describe into a job a mechanic can quote, and the mechanic confirms what you actually need before any work.
- How does pricing work?
- The price is based on the service and your exact car, and Oto never quotes one. Before you confirm a booking you see the full total for your exact car, with parts, labor, tax and Otopair's service fee inside it, and a $20 hold is placed on your card. After inspecting the car the shop confirms the final price. It cannot go above what you approved without your in-app approval, and if the shop cancels or the request expires the hold is released in full.
- Where is Oto available?
- The shops Oto books are in Staten Island, NY, the first market. Brooklyn is next, followed by Queens, The Bronx and Manhattan. Oto lives in the Otopair app for iPhone and Android; the assistant on this website is a demo that creates no real booking.
