Vehicle Health Score, explained.

A 0 to 100 number for your exact car, built from service records, check-ins and shop inspections, and what moves it.

One number for your exact car.

Oil, brakes, tires, the 12-volt battery and your state inspection, graded from their intervals and what shops measure. Upkeep, not a diagnosis.

Only real upkeep moves it.

Complete a due service, clear a warning light or let a shop inspect the car. Nothing you buy changes the number.

  1. 01.A due service gets doneYour booking completes, or you log one done elsewhere. The item goes back to on time.
  2. 02.A warning light clearsReport it and the deduction goes; report a new one and it counts against the score.
  3. 03.A shop inspects the carA mechanic's measurements land on the record shortly after the visit closes.

Paying for anything on the site changes nothing here. There is no way to buy a higher score.

A quick check-in keeps it true.

Every 90 days the app asks for your mileage, anything done elsewhere and any warning lights. Answer, and the score stays current.

Time for a quick updateInfo last updated 3 months agoStart
  • Every 90 days. Three questions: your mileage, anything done elsewhere, any warning lights.
  • About 30 seconds. Skip it and the score is shown as an estimate until you answer.
  • Nothing is read from the car. No telematics, no connected-car feed. What you confirm is what it knows.

Questions drivers ask.

Is the Vehicle Health Score a safety rating?
No. It grades the upkeep of four systems, oil, brakes, tires and the 12-volt battery, plus your state inspection when a record is on file. It does not test crashworthiness, it does not inspect anything it does not track, and a high score is not a statement that the car is safe to drive. A lit warning light or a stop-driving instruction from Oto always outranks it.
Does it use my car's telematics or connected-car data?
No. The score is built from service records, your quarterly check-in answers, the warning lights you report and what a mechanic measures during an inspection. Nothing is read from the car's computer or from any connected-car service, so the score cannot see a fault the car has not shown you and you have not reported.
Can I raise my score by paying?
No. Only real upkeep moves it: completing a service that is due, clearing a warning light, or a shop inspection that measures the car and finds it in good shape. Nothing you buy in the app changes the number, and there is no way to purchase a higher score.
